Q - Are you the same as national Mind?

A - No, but we are affiliated to them. This means that we work with Mind nationally, but we are an independent, local charity. We raise our own funds to provide the support that is needed in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. We have our own board of trustees and work with our local authorities to provide what is needed for local people.

Q - Do I have to pay for the services you offer?

A - Most of our recovery and community services are already paid for by the Local Authority or health agencies, so as long as you meet the access criteria, you can use these services for free. We also bid for funding to provide other services at no or low cost. Everything else is subject to payment. However, if you have a Direct Payment or Individualised Budget, you can purchase our services directly.

Q - Do I have to live or work in Bedfordshire, Luton or Milton Keynes?

A - Our training and corporate support packages are available to you wherever you are - from Lands End to John O'Groats, we can help!

For our recovery services, each of our seven localities (Ampthill, Bedford, Biggleswade, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Luton and Milton Keynes) are subject to local funding arrangements. This means that they can only be accessed for free by local residents. However, should you wish to receive support outside of your locality, you can purchase these services directly.

Q - I am worried about someone's mental well-being, what should I do?

A - Please see the Urgent Help page for advice.

Q - Where can I find out more about mental health issues?

A - Mind produces some very good leaflets on mental health issues, mental health law and well-being. Click here to see the full range of information available about mental health issues.

We also offer a range of workshops and courses that can help you to gain understanding of mental health issues. This includes Mental Health First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, or we can work with you to deliver something specific to you. We can also provide talks or presentations to start the conversation - please contact us for more information.
