Heritage Lottery FundWriting through Heritage Languages as a therapeutic endeavour for adults in mental health recovery.

Mind BLMK has been awarded funding from the Heritage Lottery fund to deliver a new project in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire. The aim of the project is to work with bi/multi lingual participants to write personal narratives of part of their emotional health journey in two languages. Stories will be put into bilingual books and published, and will be available in public libraries and online.

Participants will also be able to take part in a Creative History course, which will enable them to develop and narrate areas of their own history, as well as to learn about others' unique memories and articles which have surrounded them in their own culture and antiquity.

The course will run over a period of ten consecutive weeks starting on April 28th 2017 for two hours per week.  On completing the course, learners will be awarded a certificate in Creative Local History. The course will take place at the University of Bedfordshire's Polhill Avenue Campus in Bedford.

To celebrate each individual’s participation and journey through the writing of their historic stories, we will be holding an event at the end of the project giving learners the chance to narrate their journey to the local community and wider public.U of B logo
