It's really important that we try to stay connected to one another during these challenging times, this could be via email or a phone call / video call to check in with each other. It's also important to check in with yourself, to see how you're feeling and what's been happening for you that day.

Beth Timms, our Crisis Café Manager spoke about the necessity of connectivity and the positive benefits it can have on our mental health in a recent discussion about connectivity, Beth mentions that, "Even as adults we need connection to thrive, be well and be healthy."

If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health and are looking for a place to start, then our self referral forms online will help you get the ongoing support you need and ensure that you don't have to face this alone.

Without the support of our fantastic fundraisers, we wouldn't be the charity we are today and it is with your support that we can continue to provide our key services across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Today we are celebrating one of our fantastic fundraisers, who is a long-standing supporter of the charity and our work, having volunteered for Mind BLMK for over 10 years.

David participated in his own 'Dress up for December' challenge, in which he spent the whole month dressed in his finest attire to mix things up a little, whilst working from home. David also shared his comedic talent with supporters, to bring a smile to their faces and help brighten up their day. If this wasn't incredible enough as it is, David also undertook a fantastic 13.1 miles around Wardown park in Luton, his first half marathon in 9 years and has raised over an amazing £1,000 through his JustGiving page and through matched funding.

We want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to David and all of our incredible supporters, who have gone above and beyond to raise both awareness and funds for Mind BLMK, we are entirely grateful.

We are pleased to announce we are recruiting for a part-time Administrator to join our growing team at Mind BLMK. This is an exciting and varied role that requires excellent organisation skills, line management experience and the ability to adapt and problem solve in a fast-moving environment.

The successful candidate will be involved in a wide variety of tasks that support our organisation, the Exec team and departments. The role will involve answering Mind BLMK’s enquiry telephone line so excellent customer services will be required along with a ‘can-do’ attitude in this wide and varied role.

Day 16 - A mile-a-day for @MindBLMK 💙

Couldn't sleep so went out for a 5 mile run. It started off snowing quite heavily and was very slippy under foot, then turned to sleet and finally rain before I finished.

Progress so far: 16 days / 54.3 miles 🏃‍♂️🚶‍♂️

This Friday our new Leighton Buzzard Mind Matters This Friday our new Leighton Buzzard Mind Matters Plus service is back between 10.00-11.30am via Zoom, where will be discussing aspirations for the New Year.

The group will be about moving forward to achieve goals, big or small, with support from your peers as well as occasional guest speakers and therapeutic activities.

Drop in for a free virtual cup of tea this Friday - it'll be a great opportunity for people to have a chat and to discuss the future timetable for the new year, and is open to both existing and new service users.

1. Start small - you don't need to be lifting 100's of pounds or to run a marathon to feel better. Try a short walk or join an online fitness class.

2. Be kind to yourself - if you're doing anything more than you normally would, then that's a step in the right direction.

3. Everyday things count - gardening, vacuuming, moping, those unwanted chores are good for your mental health too.

4. Clear your head - physical activity often helps you concentrate on something other than unwanted thoughts or worries.

5. Celebrate your achievements - give yourself a reward whenever you've done well.

We're all different, so different things will make us feel better.
