Mental Health First Aid training course

What is Mental Health First Aid?

MHFA is providing initial support for someone in a mental health crisis situation or who is developing a mental health problem.  MHFA is based on the model of general first aid training.  The MHFA course will help you to recognise the symptoms of mental health problems, provide early assistance and inform an individual about appropriate help.

Economic and social costs of mental health problems

  • £1 billion in lost output in the economy caused by people being unable to work
  • Stress, depression and anxiety are estimated to cost more lost days than any other work related illness, with 80 million work days lost annually
  • At any one time, nearly 1 in 6 of the workforce is affected by a mental health condition
  • The cost of mental ill health to the economy, the NHS and society as a whole is £105 billion a year.
The Mental Health First Aid course can help ensure that you, your organisation and your workforce are best placed to manage and support any mental  health issues that arise.
