Lea Manor High School wins £1000 for Mind BLMK
First Give Programme – Inspiring young people to make a positive change in their community!
We were delighted to recently collaborate with Yr8 students at Lea Manor High School in Bedfordshire as part of their social commitment to improving issues in their local community.
Students from Class 82 chose Mind BLMK as their chosen charity and were judged as having carried out the most effective action amongst their peers, bagging the top prize of £1000.
The First Give programme is an amazing initiative and designed to ignite a spark of social conscience in your people. Partnering with secondary schools, it supports them to deliver the programme with any year group from Year 7 through to Year 10.
To date, First Give has empowered almost 200,000 young people to make a difference to thousands of charities across England and Wales.
94% of students who presented at their Final say that they will or may do more social action in the future as a result of First Give (2022/23)
We are so proud of all the students who took part, presenting their ideas and actions with such confidence and compassion.
The £1000 donated to Mind BLMK will directly benefit our ‘Lighthouse Young People’s Group,’ which is a support group for young people aged 18-30 and is based at our Luton Wellbeing Centre. It provides free activities around resilience and self-care that support the mental health and wellbeing of young people.
