Mind BLMK gives Three Cheers for its Volunteers at its 2019 AGM

Last Friday, 18 October, 2019, Mind BLMK celebrated its volunteers at its AGM held at The Rufus Centre in Flitwick. The event was attended by over 110 service users, volunteers, health care professionals, staff and trustees.

Mind BLMK has around 140 amazing volunteers who have dedicated over 11,000 hours to its services over the past year. The help Mind BLMK receives from its volunteers is vital in enabling us to provide continued support to thousands of people to improve their mental health across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Some of those people came to the Annual General Meeting on Friday, and were brave enough to share their stories with the audience, both face-to-face and in a special film commissioned for the event and made for us by one of our service users, Marcus J. Richardson of Mini Mammoth films. You can watch the film below:

It is always an emotional occasion and reminds everyone of the importance of the work they do in raising awareness about positive mental health and wellbeing. A number of the speakers have now gone on to volunteer or gain employment with Mind BLMK because they are keen to give back to the organisation and their peers.

Caroline Lewis, CEO at Mind BLMK said:

“Those who use our services continue to inspire us with their commitment to improving their mental health and supporting others to do the same. This year as we celebrate volunteers, we can reflect on how proud we are that people choose Mind BLMK to give their time to.”

Mind BLMK will continue to work in partnership with many other local organisations to provide the services that people need to improve their mental health across Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes. Mind BLMK’s goal is to make sure that no-one has to face a mental health problem alone.
