The Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) peer group provides a safe, supportive space for individuals who are experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation and who would benefit from support in a peer group setting.
This service will enable individuals to feel less isolated by sharing their experiences of complex emotional needs and by providing help, advice and encouragement to other members of the group.
The group is for individuals aged 18+ and who live in Milton Keynes.
Individuals will describe themselves as having complex emotional needs and may have an associated ‘personality disorder’ diagnosis. Those without diagnosis are also eligible to join the group if they are presenting with behaviours or difficulties associated with complex emotional needs. This might include:
Before joining a group individuals will complete an initial assessment with a Mind BLMK Peer Support Worker. The assessment will ensure that the group offers appropriate support to meet their individual needs.
Group members will be expected to agree to the Community Principles prior to joining in.
Each group member will be expected to develop their own Resource Support and Safety Plan (RSSP). The plan will act as a tool to support individuals during and outside of the group setting. The Peer Support Worker will help individuals to complete the plans and members will be encouraged to support one another to add to the plan during sessions.
Groups meet on a fortnightly basis, either face to face at Queensway Clinic in Bletchley or via Zoom, and last for 1.5 hours.*
Individuals can self-refer or be referred by a third party such as GP, Mental Health worker, friends and family or other services.
Referrals can be made by completing the referral form on our website, accessed by clicking the ‘Access Support’ button at the top right hand corner of this page. Once the referral is received the individual will receive initial contact from one of our Peer Support Workers within 5 working days.
