#WearitBlue this Mental Health Awareness Week

#WearitBlue this Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 takes place from 13 to 19 May, and the theme this year is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’.

Physical activity and exercise can have a positive impact on our mental health, in lots of different ways. But for some of us, getting active can be a struggle – including those of us who live with mental health problems.

“From my lowest point to the highest peak!”

“From my lowest point to the highest peak!”

Nadia and her team are taking on the Everest expedition to raise vital funds for Mind BLMK and raise awareness of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in loving memory of their sister.

Nadia is one of four sisters who call themselves ‘the Power of 4’ because their bond is unbreakable, a fusion of love and strength encased within a deep connection. Sadly, they lost our youngest sister, Zena, to mental health and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). She lifted every heart and showed incredible kindness.

David is an avid runner and part of the Stopsley Striders running group. He last ran a Marathon 29 years agin in London, but due to greater work commitments and viral illnesses, he didn’t have the capacity to train for and tackle a Marathon for many years.

Time to Talk Day 2024

Time to Talk Day 2024

1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year. And the cost of living crisis is only making it harder to look after our mental health – the poorest fifth of the population are twice as likely to develop a mental health problem.

Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Happening every year, it’s a day for friends, families, communities, and workplaces to come together to talk, listen and change lives.

Fancy a new venture for the new year? We’re looking for likeminded individuals to join Team Mind BLMK to help support positive mental health and wellbeing across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

Volunteers are a key part of our workforce and without them many of our services would cease to exist.

The day is a family event for all and we have lots planned, including a Christmas market (hosted in Shuttleworth House), Santa’s grotto, live music, festive carols, a wellbeing area (in collaboration with Safer Central Beds), food/drink and lots of festive fun!
