Research shows that more than 40 per cent of LGBTQ Research shows that more than 40 per cent of LGBTQ+ people will experience a significant mental health problem in their lives, compared to around 25 per cent of the whole population.

Some of us identify as LGBTQ+. This means we may be lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, non-binary, queer or questioning. Or we may define our gender and sexuality in other ways.

Anyone can experience a mental health problem and being part of the LGBTQ+ community doesn't cause these problems. Some of the reasons that LGBTQ+ identities are more likely to experience a mental health problem is due to them facing problems like:

- Homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
- Stigma and discrimination
- Difficult experiences of coming out
- Social isolation, exclusion and rejection.

It's important to remember that embracing your LGBTQ+ identity can also have a positive impact on your wellbeing.

At Mind BLMK we're here to ensure that everybody gets the support and respect, and make sure that nobody has to face a mental health problem alone. To find out more about our services and to get the support you deserve today, please take a look at our website (see link in bio) or email: hq@mind-blmk.org.uk

Whilst your pets might be really enjoying you work Whilst your pets might be really enjoying you working from home right now, we know that you might be finding it a little more challenging. We appreciate that it can be hard to establish a work life and home life balance, and shutting off properly after your working day, can be difficult.

It's important to look after your mental health and wellbeing during this time, so we wanted to share a few top tips from our friends at national Mind, on how to boost positive mental health and avoid burnout, whilst working from home:

- Make sure you take your annual leave - although holidays aren't as you might have hoped at current, it's still important to give yourself a break from your work.
- Get enough sleep - sleep is hugely important for positive mental health, make sure you are allowing yourself sometime to shut off and relax before going to bed at night.
- Try to finish work on time - establish boundaries between your work life and home life.
- Schedule in time for you - schedule time in your day to do something that makes you feel good, e.g. read a few pages of your favourite book.
- Ask for help if you need it - If you are struggling with burnout from work, it may be useful to take a few days off. Speak to your manager to see how best they can support you with this.

If you feel you need additional support or want to learn more about our services, they are available to individuals living in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, and our aim is to ensure that nobody has to face a mental health problem alone.
