Local celebrity, Liberato’s New Challenge for Mind BLMK
Raising awareness of the importance of good mental health and support, for when it’s not so great!
Many of you may remember Libby from his 2021 previous fundraiser for Mind BLMK where he raised an incredible £2,208.70 including Gift Aid, undertaking a gruelling bleep test challenge (54 times, level 5.4 within 54 days!). Not for the faint-hearted I hear you cry.
Well, we are delighted to tell you that he’s at it again. This year he has set himself a new challenge of a ‘Mile a Day,’ over the next 10 months. Libby’s last mile will take place in October where he will have clocked up a minimum of 300 miles, topped off with a fundraiser ball all to help raise precious donations for Mind BLMK.
Mental health is something very close to Libby’s heart and he believes that a conversation, however, small can be the start of recovery. By talking about mental health, we can all help to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Throughout my life I have come across many people in crisis of all ages, and believe that a conversation can be the start of recovery. Today you could be standing next to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So whatever you do today, do it with kindness in your heart.
When Libby is not busy running the fabulous La Piazza in Bedford or juggling local events and supporting his local community, you may just spot him out on his daily joint, advocating the importance of good mental health and wellness.
We’ll be checking in on Libby regularly and hope that you’ll follow his journey too. If you are in Bedford, why not drop into La Piazza and say hello, whilst enjoying a delicious coffee and mouth-watering treat.
