Mind BLMK partners with two other local charities for World Suicide Prevention Day 2021
For World Suicide prevention day on Friday 10 September, Mind BLMK partnered up with two other local charities; Samaritans Bedford and Grassroots – preventing suicide together, on Thursday 09 September 2021 to deliver a free online two-part event.
Funded by Public Health and hosted by Jeanette Skipsey, Market Development Manager at Mind BLMK, the theme of the day was to provide information on suicide awareness and make people aware of the support that’s available in the local area.
186 people attended the event, from a variety of different backgrounds; ranging from professionals, volunteers, and the general public living and/or working in Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.
The event was a great success and attendees gave the following feedback:
The event was presented with great passion, sensitivity, powerful too. I will listen more to my gut instinct when concerned about another person.
Mind BLMK give special thanks to each of the speakers who gave their time to provide key information about local services and presented on the day. Presenters consisted of Michele Fisher from Mind BLMK, Bethany Timms, Crisis Café Manager from Mind BLMK, Robert Labe from Samaritans Bedford, Amit Shenmar from East London Foundation Trust, and Drew Taylor from StayAlive – the suicide prevention app.
Thanks to everyone involved and who engaged with the event. For more information on future training and webinars, please visit: https://www.mind-blmk.org.uk/training-and-education.
