Shortstown Soup ‘n’ Roll group celebrates Christmas at this month’s lunch

December saw the Shortstown Soup ‘n’ Roll group come together for their lunch with a Christmas vibe. There were table decorations made by one of our community helpers, Christmas crackers, mince pies, home-made Victoria sponge made by a guest from the community, and Christmas songs on in the background.

There was also a whole lot of laughter when Clare, Mind BLMK’s Project Support Manager was asked to read the story of ‘Wonky Donkey’ out to everyone. This story has become an internet sensation after a home video was posted recently of a Scottish grandmother’s uncontrollable giggles while reading the picture book to her baby grandson. It was as ever a great afternoon, especially as all the community helpers dressed up for the festivities!

If you are aged 55 years and over and would like to join in, Soup ‘n’ Roll runs on the third Monday of every month, from 12.30 – 2 pm. It is £1 entry which includes, tea/coffee, biscuits, soup and a roll. It does help if you can let us know that you are coming so please call or text Liz Wilde on 07876 825350 or email [email protected].

The next time we meet is 21 January 2019.
